Sony has just confirmed that the new "Ratchet & Clank" game for the PlayStation 4 system will come out in April of this year. In addition, the company also said that the narrative of the upcoming game will be based on its film adaptation, which is also scheduled to premiere in April.

According to Sony's post on the PlayStation Blog, the game will arrive in France on April 15 while gamers in the UK can expect to their hands on the title on April 22. The U.S., on the other hand, will be the first country to see the game once it comes out on April 12.

As noted by Sony, which will publish the game for development studio Insomniac Games, the new "Ratchet & Clank" title will serve as a remake of the series and will focus on a slightly different origin story. According to the company, like the film, the "Ratchet & Clank" game will be told through the perspective of Captain Qwark, the heroic leader of the Galactic Rangers. Also, the game will feature new worlds and bosses as well as an improved gameplay mechanic.

Recently, Sony released a new trailer for the "Ratchet & Clank" game. But, aside from in-game footages, the clip also features shots taken directly from the film, Tech Times reported. As seen in the trailer, both the game and film adaptation will have the same graphic quality.

The first game from the original series first debuted in 2002 exclusively for the PlayStation 2. This was then followed by numerous sequels including "Going Commando," "A Crack in Time," and "Into the Nexus," which came out in 2013.

According to Sony, the 2016 game will serve as the first entry in the new and re-imagined series. Its release will coincide with the premiere of the 3D animated film adaptation which is set to hit theaters on April 29.
