New rumors suggest that development studio, Ubisoft, is preparing to launch the next instalment in the "Assassin's Creed" franchise next year. The game will be reportedly called "Assassin's Creed Empire" and will be set in Egypt.
News about the possible arrival of the upcoming game was reported by Kotaku based on a tip made by an anonymous source who claims to know about Ubisoft's internal projects. According to the tipster, the studio will not release a new series entry this year due to the problematic launch of 2014's "Assassin's Creed Unity."
The site noted that the bugs and other issues that riddled the game had an effect on its follow-up titled "Syndicate" which arrived in late last year for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. By skipping this year, Ubisoft is reportedly hoping that fans of the series will get excited once again while waiting for its next entry.
According to PlayStation Lifestyle, Ubisoft will adopt this alternating release schedule as the new launch cycle for future "Assassin's Creed" games.
Aside from the possible timeframe, speculations about the game also indicated that it will feature an Egyptian backdrop. With this setting, the game's main protagonist will allegedly be an Egyptian slave.
In a recent report by Gamesradar, the site noted that images from "Assassin's Creed Empire" have been available to the public since 2013. According to the site, these images were featured in "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag" as attachments in email messages sent by employees of the fictional company called Abstergo Industries.
The screenshots, which show what appears to be a high-ranking Egyptian figure standing before commoners and slaves, reportedly came from the Ubisoft game "Project Osiris." Unfortunately, the title was canceled but it seems Ubisoft is looking to reuse certain technical aspects of the game to develop "Assassin's Creed Empire."
But, despite the number of new rumors floating around the future game, Ubisoft has not yet released an official statement clarifyingwhether or not a new title for the series is in development. It is also not yet confirmed if it will be set in Egypt or if it will carry the "Empire" title.
