Development studio Cloud Imperium Games has announced that the latest content update for "Star Citizen" is now available and can be downloaded through the game's Public Test Universe or PTU. As explained by the developer, the newest patch comes with various fixes, gameplay tweaks, and other in-game contents.
According to the latest patch's notes as posted on Reddit, those who will download Alpha Patch 2.1.0 will receive the all new AEIGS Sabre spacecraft as well as the MISC Freelancer. But aside from these new ships, the patch also comes with various bug fixes and gameplay improvements.
Some of the bugs addressed through the patch include the appearance of untextured items in the VGF Industrial Hangar and streaming problems that emerge once all variants of the Constellation are placed inside the hangar.
As for the gameplay tweaks, through Alpha Patch 2.1.0, characters or pilots will no longer be allowed to step outside of their ships in Arena Commander mode. Instead, they'll only be able to do this during Free Flight. Also, players who are idle while waiting for the respawn process to activate will no longer be removed from the Vanduul Swarm.
In addition, Cloud Imperium Games also fixed the problem with the ships' self-destruction mode that previously deactivates once characters eject out of them. Also, holograms of ships are now shown in a more detailed manner and include all of their sections.
Although the latest patch is available on PTU, the studio explained through its website that this doesn't mean that its Live service will be taken down soon. Players can still freely choose whether to play patch 2.1.0 on PTU or the previous patch 2.0.0 on Live.
As noted by Gamespot, Cloud Imperium Games has not yet announced exactly when the final version of "Star Citizen" will debut. For now, the projected release period for the space simulation game for the Microsoft Windows and Linux platforms is set in 2016.
