'Iron Man 4' Updates: Marvel might introduce new Iron Man in 2020; Robert Downey Jr. demands $150 million?

By

Everybody knows perfectly well that if there's an Avenger who laid the foundation for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was Iron Man. Starred by Robert Downey Jr., Iron Man was a huge success when it dropped in theaters back in 2008. Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark was so natural and defintely the most popular character in MCU. However, latest news for the film says that Iron Man 4 will not hit the theaters anytime soon.

Christian Today reported that Marvel Studios has no plans to proceed with Iron Man 4 until 2020. Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark last adventure took place in Iron Man 3 which was released in 2013 and have earned over $1 billion at the box office.

Robert Downey Jr.'s contract with Marvel Studio was also expected to end any time soon. By this time, the studio can choose to find a new Tony Stark or make the actor stay. There's been speculations that Robert Downey Jr. might not (most probably) be reprising his role. This is due to the actor's age or his demand for a higher paycheck. Though, Iron Man will still be featured and will play a major part in Marvel's latest Captain America: Civil War. He is also set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 & 2.

A website reported that the Robert Downey Jr. was paid over $40 million for his appearance in Captain America: Civil War and received $50 million for Iron Man 3. The actor's biggest paycheck comes from Avengers: Age of Ultron, in which the actor earned $80 million. It was also said that if he agrees to reprise his role as Iron Man in 2020, Marvel Studio and the producers will have to pay him a whopping $150 million or more.

Regardless whether Robert Downey Jr. will come back or not for Iron Man 4, the movie won't hit the theaters after 2020. Marvel Studios have earned the trust of fans all over the world, and if the studio decides to drop Robert Downey Jr. out from the picture, Marvel Cinematic Universe is still here to stay and will still continue to provide audience a spectacular cinematic experience.
