Sony is one of the smartphone makers who have promised to deliver the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its handsets. Recently, it was revealed that the Sony Xperia Z5, Z4 and Z3 series are eligible for the newest upgrade the search engine company' mobile operating system.
According to Softpedia, while the Japanese tech company is testing the next version of Android on Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact, many Xperia owners are waiting to know a lot more about Sony's Marshmallow update roadmap.
The good news is that fans might be closer to an Android 6.0 Marshmallow release than everyone have thought as the operating system update has just been certified for the Japanese Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z5 smartphone. The certification of Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware indicates that these two smartphones might be among the first smartphones to receive the update. It's also a sign that the update might be rolled out very soon if the testing process is completed successfully.
Furthermore, Donklephant stated on its article that it seems that Android 6.0 Marshmallow is already approved for Xperia Z5 at NTT DoCoMo, SoftBank, and au. The Wi-Fi Alliance, the NTT DoCoMo variant for Xperia Z5 Premium, is also permitted. Additionally, the Sony Xperia Z4 on NTT DoCoMo, SoftBank, and au. also received the green light.
These are the 3 carriers that will release the update. But the unlocked variants of the Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z5 might also be obtaining the update during the same period. The mere fact that the certification was approved by Wi-Fi Alliance hints that users should expect this launch to happen in the forthcoming months.
Meanwhile, Gospel Herald cited some of the devices that will be receiving the Marshmallow upgrade from this last year and it includes the Sony Xperia Z5, the Xperia Z5 Premium, the Xperia Z5 Compact, the Xperia Z3+/Z4, the Xperia C5 Ultra, the Xperia C4, the Xperia M5, and the Xperia M4 Aqua.
As for 2014, the Xperia Z3/Z3V, the Xperia Z3 Compact, the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, the Xperia Z2, and the Xperia Z2 Tablet are also due for the Marshmallow upgrade. For 2013 released handsets, only the Sony Xperia Z Ultra GPE will obtain Marshmallow.
Sony might definitely be warming up alreadt for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow launch to its handful of Xperia handsets. It's now a mere coin toss to see which Xperia device will be the first one to obtain the newest mobile OS update from Google.
