On Thursday, 16-year-old Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ Douglas won the gold medal in the individual floor exercise round at the London Summer Olympics 2012. The 16-year-old, who has become noted for her acute talent and beaming smile became the first African American woman to take home the gold medal for the all-round Olympic Champion.
