Executive producer Gary Glasberg told TVLine that an unexpected closeness would transpire in the show between Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), who still grieves the demise of his father Jackson (played by the late Ralph Waite) and Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), who is still emotional with the departure of his ladylove Ziva David (Cote de Pablo).
