Grammy Award-winning singer and "American Idol" alumna Carrie Underwood is set to hit the silver screen as the voice of "Sunday Night Football" official sound track.
"Sunday Night Football" coordinating producer Fred Gaudelli made an announcement in front of reporters in Beverly Hills about the big screen comeback of the multi-platinum recording artist who will perform her rendition of "Waiting All Day for Sunday," which will be the theme song for the primetime television program.
Gaudelli added that Underwood, together with about a dozen NFL stars including Philadelphia Eagles' LeSean McCoy and San Francisco 49er quarterback Colin Kaepernick, convened in a meeting to film a new sequence for the aforementioned song. The SNF producer also revealed that a two and a half minute trailer will make its way to over 19,000 cinemas across USA starting the 25th of July.
The producers played a short clip showing the behind-the-scenes video compilation of the goofy moments of Underwood and NFL athletes. "As you can see, the players had a great time," said Guadelli. "We were out here for five days. We shot the open for the regular season. We shot the open for Super Bowl XLIX, which will also star Carrie."
At the Television Critics Association Summer press conference, game analyst Cris Collinsworth revealed that he is a big fan of the song, which played as he, his partner Al Michaels, reporter Michele Trofaya, and producer Fred Gaudelli appeared before the press.
"Waiting All Day for Sunday is set from "I Hate Myself for Loving You," an original song by Joan Jett that has been formerly performed by recording artists Faith Hill and Pink.
NBC's "Sunday Night Football" landed as the leading primetime television show in household rating for the third consecutive season.
