A bride to be celebrating her bacherlorette party in Northern California was among the five people killed when a stretch limousine burst into flames while crossing a San Francisco bridge.
Harper Lee, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of "To Kill a Mockingbird" has sued her literary agent, claiming he tricked her into assigning the copyright on her book to him, Reuters reported. The lawsuit was filed in federal court against Samuel Pinkus, the son-in-law of Lee's long-term agent, Eugene Winick, who had represented her for more than 40 years. In 2002, Winick became ill, and Pinkus diverted several of his clients to his own company.
The Florida teachers union lawsuit over the merit pay law was dismissed on Thursday citing that a circuit judge ruling that the 2011 did not violate teachers constitutional rights. Leon County Circuit Judge John Cooper sided with state officials and shut down the lawsuit filed by the Florida Education Association.
