Joan Rivers tells Selena Gomez to ‘shut up’ after sharing ‘pro-Palestinian’ post on Instagram

While a lot of celebrities are taking on their social media to show concern about the controversial Israel-Palestine conflict, straightforward comedienne Joan Rivers kept it real and voiced out her sentiments particularly concerning Selena Gomez's "Pray for Gaza" Instagram post.

In a live interview via satellite with a news outlet in Israel, the 81-year-old entertainment host bluntly stated her opinion about celebrities like Selena Gomez, Rihanna, and Dwight Howard who made comments that were seemingly pro-Palestine, told Latina.

"Selena Gomez, who just came out of rehab, who I believe is not a college girl, Rihanna, who is beautiful and not the smartest blub in the lamp - they see pictures of (dead) children and they go crazy," Rivers said without hesitation. "I think Israel should show pictures of dead puppies and these girls will turn right around."

Rivers continued saying, "They're not listening. If America were being attacked by Mexico and one rocket came over, there would not be a Mexico."

The "Fashion Police" critic also said that both world-renowned recording artists need to "shut up" about a sensitive issue, in which they don't have knowledge of.

"These girls should shut up, and put on pretty clothes, and get themselves off of drugs," Rivers exclaimed.

It could be recalled that the 22-year-old singer-actress shared a photo on her Instagram account last month that read, "It's all about humanity. Please pray for Gaza." Gomez also captioned the picture saying, "Please pray for those families and babies today. Please always remember what's important in life. It's not any of this. We are here to help, inspire and love. Be that change. #wearethenextgeneration."

Meanwhile, Joan Rivers is not the first person who made negative remarks about fellow celebrities who confidently show support for Palestine. Academy Award winning actor Jon Voight criticized Spanish actors Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, after both stars released an open letter condemning Israel's attack on Palestine, Fox News Latino reported.

Calling the open letter "anti-Semitic," the 75-year-old "Ray Dunovan" star said that both Cruz and Bardem should apologize to the affected people in Israel.

The website cited Voight's written statement submitted to The Hollywood Reporter saying, "You [Cruz and Bardem] should hang your heads in shame. You should all come forth with deep regrets for what you did, and ask forgiveness from the suffering people in Israel."
