Star Wars Episode VII: rumored plot details; J.J. Abrams reveals the iconic X-Wing with a mouse droid; UNICEF fundraiser for children benefits

It's still over a year before the release of the much-anticipated Star Wars Episode VII, but the epic space opera film franchise has created a lot of buzz from rumored filming locations, cast and now, its plot.

Badass Digest recently spilled the beans on a very general Star Wars Episode VII premise. It said that instead of a spaceship zooming into the frame after the usual Star Wars crawl, a severed hand tumbling through space gripping a light saber will be seen.

The site also said that the hand falls on a desert planet, discovered by two characters (Daisy Ridley and John Boyega) who recognize the light saber as a Jedi relic and decide to turn it in to the proper people.

Badass Digest also said that the quest takes the two characters off world where they meet up with Han Solo and Chewbacca - who aren't flying in the Millenium Falcon. The two recognize the light saber as Luke's, whom they have not seen in years since the events in The Return of the Jedi.

The case of the severed hand with the light saber sparks the quest to find the missing Jedi Master. Meanwhile, on an ice planet, evil forces are building a super weapon, capable of destroying not just planets, but entire solar systems, the site added.

Whether or not the plot premise provided by Badass Digest will excite, confuse or annoy Star Wars fans, what's getting everyone talking is a video upload of J.J. Abrams showing off the iconic X-Wing (with a little mouse droid on the side) promoting "Star Wars: Force for Change."

The UNICEF fundraiser aims to raise funs and awareness for UNICEF's Innovation Labs and its innovative projects that will benefit children in need. The fund raiser encourages fans to donate at least $10 for a chance to win a set visit and get to appear in a scene on Episode VII.

Meanwhile, the official website of Star Wars issued a production update, saying that in August, its team will take a brief two-week hiatus while adjustments to the current production schedule are made as Harrison Ford recovers from a leg injury (a different leg injury?). It also updated fans that shooting remains on track to wrap this fall with the film is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015.
