PSVR News: Sony Takes Virtual Reality Gaming To The Next Level With Future Plans

By

Recent PSVR news regarding an upgrade to Sony's VR peripheral has surfaced, and it plants to take VR gaming to another level of immersion. PlayStation VR debuted as the most budget-friendly headset on the market.

Recent reports suggests that the base headset might either get add-on peripherals or an updated headset altogether. According to Engadget, Sony has filed a patent for a tracking device similar to HTC's Vive VR.

The new VR technology would give players more movement freedom as well as more VR functionality for the headset. Players VR immersion is stepped up a notch with the use of an external projector that is capable of mapping real world movements into the VR environment.

While the PSVR's budget-friendly price could help introduce players to the VR world, this new technology could give them more reasons to invest in it. Although it is still unclear if the new tracking technology would come in the form of additional peripherals or as a new PSVR headset altogether.

Regardless, the new tracker indicates good PSVR news as Sony shows more support and innovation to their VR device. This signifies a healthy future for Sony's VR venture, as being able to freely move around both in the real world and in VR is one step closer to the full experience.

According to Upload, the PSVR will soon have a "Paranormal Activity" title real soon. If the tracker technology will be applied to titles such as these, it just bumps the scare factor to astronomical levels! Though given such immersive VR capabilities, it might be harder for players to train their mind into thinking that it's just playing a game.

With such innovations and advancements in the PSVR news, Sony is showing the market that their headset is not just a budget alternative to the world of Virtual Reality. We already have notable headsets on the market such as the Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR and the Microsoft HoloLens. However, Sony's recent patent filing suggests that the tech giant isn't about to give its competitors an edge in the VR race.
