The Marvel announcement of Brie Larson as "Captain Marvel" has raised some questions about the casting decision, but a writer justifies Larson's role. The 27-year-old actress will play as the iconic heroine, Captain Marvel.
Captain Marvel is Carol Danvers' alter ego, a skilled pilot with superior combat skills as well. As a matter of fact, Danvers quickly rose up to the ranks at Air Force Academy and she eventually ended up becoming an established C.I.A agent.
According to CinemaBlend, the issue lies within Larson's age, which nitpicking critics find as too young to play a distinguished character such as Danvers. The questionable Marvel announcement certainly had some hardcore fans scratching their heads.
However, "Captain Marvel" writer Nicole Perlman defended Larson's "age issue." Perlman explained that it's very possible for someone within the range of 28-34 years old, to become an "accomplished" pilot.
In fact, Perlman even confirmed this scenario by consulting it with the real-life Air Force. "You could go very far within that time," Perlman added.
The "Captain Marvel" writer further explained that, by the time they're done filming, Larson will be a lot older by then. Given the fact that "Captain Marvel" won't be releasing until 2019, Perlman's argument gives a reasonable answer to the "age issue."
This also justifies the Marvel announcement of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. After all, Larson already nails Carol Danvers in the looks department.
Meanwhile, Larson herself has her hands full since she'll be among the Oscars 2017 presenters. According to ActionNews, the "21 Jump Street" star will present the Best Actress award.
Larson will join the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Rylance and Alicia Vikander in presenting awards for the Oscars 2017. Aside from the "Captain Marvel" announcement, Larson will also star in the upcoming epic monster film "Kong: Skull Island" that comes to theaters on March 10, 2017.
