Super Mario in Grand Theft Auto: The Magic of PC Mods

By

If you haven't heard by now, Nintendo Switch is a pretty big thing. When it was revealed and showcased at Nintendo's live stream about a week ago, many fans were over the moon and filled with glee from what was displayed. From the abilities that the Nintendo Switch could do to the games that are going to be showing up on release as well as the games going to be released in the future, most of the fans of the Nintendo franchise all across the globe were smitten with Nintendo's brand new console. Some fans, however, couldn't wait, and since the release of Super Mario Odyssey seemed so far away and had such an interesting premise, fans decided to mix the two worlds of Super Mario and Grand Theft Auto together to see how it would play out.

For those of you who aren't in the know, the premise of Super Mario Odyssey takes place with Mario exploring a handful of new places, one of them including a place called New Donk City, and if it's a city then one can imagine how similar it must be to some of the most iconic cities in the entire world, like New York City for instance. In a game called Grand Theft Auto 4, the protagonist (or antagonist, depending on how you see it) goes through a series of trials and tribulations in what is known as Liberty City, a very close and similar representation of New York City. With the magic of PC mods, someone decided to make a mod that can take your favorite plumber and put him into the world of Liberty City, and Polygon claims that it is just as goofy, awkward, funny and disturbing as you'd expect it to be.

According to Kohaku, what has the fans of both Mario, Grand Theft Auto and video games, in general, is his bizarre look. You've got his face and head, which are in line with what he looks like in his normal games, but something's odd about him. One would speculate that it is most likely his long limbs, while his normal games have his limbs and the rest of his body to be relatively proportionate. The mod was brought to you by youtuber Crowbat, and his mod is having the internet and fans of both games in an odd mix feeling amused and disturbed.
