Kingsman 2: Pedro Pascal's new character revealed; First teaser photo hints at Colin Firth's return

Taron Egerton is set to reprise his role as the new Kingsman, Gary Unwin, but his mentor who was previously thought to have died might just return for the upcoming Kingsman 2. Game of Thrones actor Pedro Pascal was also recently added to the film's cast.

Egerton released a photo on Twitter which was the first official poster for the sequel. As reported by Den of Geek, the photo did not feature a person but instead showed the words "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated" along with glasses with a missing lens on the left side.

All clues on the picture point out the return of Colin Firth as Harry Hart, but Egerton's caption seemed to confirm the speculations. "A message from an old friend. #Kingsman", he stated.

In the first film, Firth's Harry Hart was assumed dead after he was shot by Samuel Jackson's Valentine. However, if rumors are true, then the sequel could somehow feature his return, and hopefully explain how it happened.

According to Christian Today, the film is rumored to center on the Kingsmen as they team up with the US version of the secret service, called Statesman. The sudden move for the Kingsman secret service is rumored to be caused by Julianne Moore's villainous character's attacks that would destroy the Kingsman secret service headquarters. However, such speculations must be treated with a grain of salt until official plot synopsis is released.

Meanwhile, as reported by Independent, Pedro Pascal was recently added to the roster of the sequel's cast. Pascal will play the role of Jack Daniels, a "swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy" and will work closely with Halle Berry's character, Ginger.

No director has been officially announced for the upcoming Kingsman 2 officially entitled Kingsman: The Golden Ciricle but Matthew Vaughn has been heavily rumored to helm the sequel to the 2014 box office hit. The sequel is currently slated to hit theaters on June 16, 2017.
