Michael Schumacher Update: F1 Benetton car for auction in Monaco; April Fools report causes outrage

By

The seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher is still on his road to recovery after a skiing incident that happened in 2013. While updates regarding his health are scarce, an April Fools prank regarding the racer's condition caused outrage among fans.

The media blackout regarding the racer's health is still ongoing as part of the request of his family. However, the lack of official information has also become the reason for unwarranted speculations regarding the racer's health to become plentiful.

According to Parent Herald, the most recent among the false claims was the April Fools report by Sportsrageous which stated that Michael Schumacher has recovered from his injuries and is currently preparing to return to the F1 world.

The report has since been taken down, but left Schumacher's fans offended on the post. It is unknown whether the Schumacher family will pursue a lawsuit on the matter. As reported by News Everyday, the latest official update regarding Schumacher's health came from Sabine Kehm who said that there have been improvements but the fight to recovery is still a long road ahead.

"We are happy to say still he does improvement and I say this always considering the severeness of the injury he had. But of course it will take a very long time for everybody involved to fight, and we are happy to take this fight." Kehm said. She also stressed in a separate interview that the gravity of Schumacher's injuries must always be taken into consideration as well.

Meanwhile, an auction is set to take place next month where Schumacher's F1 Benetton car will soon find its new owner. According to Morning News USA, the car is expected to be sold between €220,000 and €280,000.

Schumacher has finished as part of the top three fastest drivers in several racers, one of which was the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos where he bagged third place. Aside from Schumacher, the car was also used by Nelson Piquet and Martin Brundle. The auction will be held in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
