'Kong: Skull Island' finally rolled out its first ever exclusive featurette offering the first look at behind-the-scenes footage as well as interviews with new cast members. Lead actors Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson talked more about the upcoming film as well as revealed some details about their characters.

According to ComicBook, Legendary and Warner Bros. Pictures revealed the first ever exclusive featurette of Jordan Vogt-Roberts much-awaited reboot of the 'King Kong' cinematic franchise at the MTV Movie Awards. It offered behind-the-scenes clips and interviews ahead of the scheduled theatrical release for March 2017.

In the new featurette posted on Cinema Blend, lead actor Tom Hiddleston explains, "King Kong is someone who's been part of motion pictures for almost a hundred years and he's back in a whole new incarnation, a new conception. Kong appears in this film as you've never seen him before." He plays the main protagonist Captain James Conrad, a former British Special Air Service office and de-facto mission commander in charge of the expedition.

Hiddleston expounded further on his character by revealing that Captain Conrad has the ability of understanding nature and the ways of the jungle, a skill set which ultimately benefits him on Skull Island.

Co-star Brie Larson further added, "The film is about a group of explorers who set off on an adventure into a previously uncharted island." Larson plays Weaver, a photojournalist accompanying Captain Conrad in the said expedition.

Larson and Hiddleston are joined by a brand new ensemble cast that includes John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Samuel L. Jackson, Toby Kebbell, Thomas Mann, Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell. The reboot will honor the original story's mythos but will be set in an entirely new timeline. It is set during the Vietnam War in the 1970s as revealed in the featurette.

According to Bloody Disgusting, Hiddleston previously revealed that Vogt-Roberts' new film will be an exciting new adventure never before seen in the franchise's cinematic history. He said, "What they find on the island is surprising, and then every character has a very different response to it. It's going to be spectacular and epic, but also the human drama is kind of interesting as well."

It was suggested that in contrast to preceding movies in the franchise, the new film will also focus on the human characters' relationships and struggles such as post-traumatic stress imposed by the war and implications on discovering a brand new world of monsters.

'Kong: Skull Island' is an upcoming action-adventure and monster film directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts with a screenplay by Max Borenstein, Derek Connolly, John Gatins and Dan Gilroy. It is intended as a reboot of the original franchise featuring the giant ape King Kong. It is scheduled to be released on March 10, 2017.
