'Kingsman 2', otherwise known as 'Kingsman: The Golden Circle', may feature the return of an important original character as revealed by the latest poster dropped by lead actor Taron Egerton. Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal of 'Game of Thrones' fame is set to join Egerton and the rest of the cast in the upcoming spy film.
According to /Film, speculations for the return of Colin Firth's Harry Hart in the second installment in the spy-action series have taken a more interesting turn following Taron Egerton's big reveal of the film's latest poster. The actor tweeted an image with looked to be plain text set upon a clean white background which read, "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated."
Glasses of the vintage-looking tortoiseshell nature sit on top of the text. The hint may not be as subtle as it intends to be since the glasses closely resemble those worn by Firth in the original film. Interestingly enough, Egerton captioned the image with, "A message from an old friend. #Kingsman."
Harry Hart a.k.a. Galahad was introduced in the first film as a Kingsman agent who recruits a young rebellious Londoner, Gary "Eggsy" Unwin, into the secret spy society in hopes of repaying the teenager's late father. He becomes Eggsy's mentor throughout his training but is surprisingly killed off towards the end of the film.
According to Den of Geek, the rumors of Harry Hart's return emerged sometime last September. Director Matthew Vaughn was noted saying, "That's the conversation everyone's having right now, because part of what made that movie work is Colin [...] You also want to have the integrity of the story, so if you are bringing him back, it has to make sense [...] Should he have an evil brother, Colin with a moustache? Or is he a ghost or whatever? The guys have a plan. I can't spoil it just now because the final decision is still to be made."
Meanwhile, the new film boasts a brand new ensemble cast that includes Halle Berry and Julianne Moore. Egerton, Mark Strong and Edward Holcroft return as Eggsy, Merlin and Charlie, respectively. According to an exclusive report by Deadline, Pedro Pascal has recently boarded the new cast and will reportedly play a character named Jack Daniels.
Pascal is best known for portraying Oberyn Martell in HBO's widely popular 'Game of Thrones' television series. He also worked on other full-feature films throughout his career including 2005's 'Hermanas', 2011's 'The Adjustment Bureau' and 2014's 'Bloodsucking Bastards'.
'Kingsman 2', or 'Kingsman: The Golden Circle', is an upcoming spy film intended as the follow-up to Matthew Vaughn's 2015 release of the same name. The series is based on a comic book created by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar. The upcoming film will feature the return of several lead actors including Taron Egerton and Mark Strong.
