Tom Hanks is set to return for Toy Story 4 to voice the character of Woody who will go on another adventure for love. Disney Chieff Creative Office John Lasseter also revealed their inspiration for the story of the fourth installment.
Hanks confirmed previously that they are working on the Toy Story 4 which will hit theaters in 2018. As reported by InStyle, the Academy Award winning actor revealed that the franchise is headed in a "very different direction" in the entire series, but did not delve into major details what his statement meant.
However, it was Disney's John Lasseter who confirmed during the D23 Expo that the sequel will explore on the romantic side of Woody and Bo Peep which will be a "very very emotional story". Per Breathe Cast, the fourth movie is rumored to feature Woody and Buzz Lightyear who will go on an adventure to find Bo Peep who was assumed to have been given away during the previous installment.
It will also feature Buzz who will finally pursue Jessie whom he has been sharing a romantic connection with ever since they met during the second film, as well as during their dance together in Toy Story 3. According to Star Mine News, Toy Story 4 will be a love story between the characters which is a different genre compared to the previous films.
The Disney executive also revealed that part of their inspiration for the film is the story of his wife before they met. "It's an incredible story, and it's been sort of a bit of an inspiration for this. At Pixar and Disney, we only make sequels if we come up with a story that's as good, or better than the original.", Lasseter said.
Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Annie Potts, Don Rickles, Estelle Harris, Jodi Benson, Bud Luckey, and Laurie Metcalf are also set to return for Toy Story 4. It is directed by John Lasseter and Josh Cooley with screenplay by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. It is set to be released on June 15, 2018.
