Samsung’s Entrim 4D Headphones Allow Users To ‘Feel’ Virtual Reality

By

Samsung has ventured on the virtual reality industry, manufacturing a consumer-friendly device called Gear VR. Now, the South Korean tech company is expanding its coverage with the entry of Samsung Entrim 4D motion headphones.

According to Ubergizmo, while virtual reality will make users feel like they are there visually, there are other factors that can terminate that illusion. One example is while users might be able to "see" themselves in another world, the fact that they are just sitting down and controlling their character with a gaming controller could ruin the immersion for some users.

Nevertheless during SXSW, Samsung's Creative Lab has taken the wraps off a pair of headphones called the Entrim 4D. These are headphones armed with Samsung's technology that is designed to allow users to "feel" like they are in the virtual reality world. This device works as it sends electrical signals to the nerves of the user's eye that deals with their balance and motion. It could trick the user's brain making them think that they are really moving.

Additionally, International Business Times stated that the Samsung Entrim 4D is an ongoing development that is being tested and organized by over 1,500 hardware professionals, software engineers and biomedical engineering experts for future release. This headphone has been tested with a first-person view drone, which is expected to create a physical illusion of flying with the help of drone's own motion sensors.

When it comes with the Samsung VR, NDTV Gadgets noted that this device is the best mobile virtual reality headset available on the market. But one of the biggest things that keep users from having a sense of presence with headsets such as the Gear VR is that they don't have the same liberty to move around as this device doesn't have depth tracking in the headset. That technology is something that tech enthusiasts look to future mobile devices. But as of the moment, there's a definite obstruction to the sense of complete immersion.

As of now, there is still no available information about the release of the Samsung Entrim 4D headphone. Its possible price is still kept under the wraps as well.
