Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) Leaked Manuals Confirm Metal Frame

Samsung Electronics is not just focusing on high-end smartphones, it is also offering mid-range handsets like the Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016). Based on leaked manuals, these handsets will feature metallic frames.

According to Android Headlines, majority of Samsung devices are wrapped in polycarbonate, and this has been the case for several years. Nonetheless, with the release of the company's Samsung Galaxy S6 series, Samsung's pattern changed. As matter of fact, when it released the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, both handsets were designed from the ground up as two brand new flagship phones wrapped in glass and metal.

As of the moment, it seems like the Korean company might be ready to bring a touch of the premium market into its mid-range segment. New leak indicated that both the upcoming Samsung Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 (2016) could feature a metal frame.

Additionally, Sammobile stated that the user manuals showing that the upcoming Galaxy J5 and J7 would feature metal frame are available for carriers China Mobile and China Telecom on Samsung's website. The report also suggests that the second-generation J5 and J7 will be unveiled in China before other markets, just like its predecessors.

The manuals don't exactly show anything in terms of the devices, but based on the guide, there is an antenna slits on the phones' frames, cuts that are only required on metallic devices. Either the J5 (2016) and J7 (2016) will become the first budget handset from Samsung to feature metallic frame. It was also speculated that those slits are simply part of the design and aren't there for improved antenna reception. The back portions of the handsets are still removable though, so users will be able to access the large batteries that are predicted to arm these devices. A front-facing LED flash is also making a comeback.

Aside from the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) design, Christian Today added some of the possible specs that these devices might carry. The J5 2016 is expected to sport a 5.2-inch 720p Super AMOLED display. It will be engineered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB in-built storage that can be further expanded with a microSD card, backing up the chipset. On its camera department, the Galaxy J5 (2016) will be armed with a 13MP rear-facing camera complete with LED flash and laser autofocus. On its front, there would be a 5MP selfie shooter.

As for the Samsung Galaxy J7 2016, TENAA showed that this handset will feature a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display. The smartphone appears to have two versions (SM-J7108 and SM-J7109) but the only difference is its processors and the color options. The former has an Exynos 7870 processor under its hood and comes with gold and white colors while the latter has an unspecified octa-core chipset with four 1.5GHz cores and four 1.2GHz cores. It also comes in black and gold.

The specifications of these two Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 models are identical. The handsets house a 3GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage space. Both of it have the same camera setup as the Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 and its battery was revealed to be a 3,300 mAh unit. The Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 and the J7 2016 run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and might feature either a loudspeaker grille or a heart rate sensor next to the camera sensor on the back.

When it comes with the release date and pricing, there is still no available information. Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) and Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) are expected to debut in China first.
