Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) and Galaxy J1 Mini Announced in Philippines and Russia

Aside from unveiling high-end smartphones, Samsung is also delivering entry-level handsets like the Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) which was announced in Russia. Meanwhile its mini version, Galaxy J1 Mini, has finally made its way to both Russia and Philippines.

According to Android Geeks, Samsung had been working on a mini-variant of the Galaxy J1 smartphone and recently, the South Korean tech finally made it official. The Samsung Galaxy J1 mini has been listed on Samsung's Philippine website without any information regarding its pricing and availability. This handset, however, is expected to go on sale really soon.

India Today noted that the Samsung Galaxy J1 Mini has a 4-inch TFT LCD display with a 480 800 pixels resolution. It is engineered with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor that is coupled with 768MB of RAM. This handset from the South Korean tech company is packed with an 8GB of internal storage that can be further expanded by up to 128GB via microSD.

The Galaxy J1 Mini also comes with a 5-megapixel camera on the rear and a 0.3-megapixel snapper on the front. It is a dual SIM smartphone that runs Android Lollipop-based TouchWiz UI and has support for 4G LTE. It is powered by a 1,500mAh capacity battery.

On the other hand, Tech2 stated that the Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) sports a 4.5-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display featuring a resolution of 800×480 pixels. Inside its chassis it is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. This handset is packed with an 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB using the microSD card slot.

On the camera department, it includes a 5MP unit with autofocus and an LED flash on the back while the front-facing unit is of 2 MP. This device is dual SIM that has support for 4G or 3G bands depending on the market and packs in 2050mAh battery.

Both the Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) and J1 Mini will be available in Gold, White, and Black color options. The Galaxy J1 (2016) is priced at AED 499, approximately US$ 136 while the price of Galaxy J1 mini is yet to be revealed by the South Korean tech company.
