Asgard's god of thunder is set to be back in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, and will bring a friend with him in his return. However, several other major characters might not make it to the big screen in the franchise's third film.
Thor will be accompanied by the Hulk in his next adventure, but his next solo outing could also mean the absence of three characters that played major roles in the previous films. As reported by Vine Report, actress Jaimie Alexander who previously confirmed to reprise her role as Lady Sif last year has revealed that her return is not yet a hundred percent sure.
Alexander said that script changes and her filming schedule for her tv series, Blindspot, is causing her to be unsure of her return. "I am not 100% sure at this moment", she said. "I know that they're changing things with the script and that sort of thing, so I am literally in limbo. I know probably less than you do about it. I would love to do it, but whether or not it's going to work on my short hiatus from 'Blindspot' I'm not sure. There could be a lot of factors when it comes to that decision.", Alexander added.
But Alexander also added that she would love to reprise her role in the franchise, if circumstances work in favor of her. Furthermore, as reported by Parent Herald, it is not only Alexander who might not return for the third film as actor Stellan Skarsgard also previously confirmed that Thor: Ragnarok is not in his contract, but later added that he could still appear in the next Avengers film as he still has another film with Marvel.
Idris Elba who plays Heimdall also revealed that he might not appear in the film, as his characters is rumored to die in the beginning of the movie. Although the powerful guardian of Asgard might meet his demise in the beginning, plot theories suggest that he might still eventually appear in the later parts of the film as he could lead the fallen soldiers of Asgard in a battle against Hella's ghost soldiers.
Meanwhile, the cast of Captain America: Civil War recently shared which side they think Thor and Hulk would choose in Captain America and Iron Man's fight. As reported by Movie Pilot, Chris Evans said that Hulk might side with Iron Man as his MCU love interest Black Widow sides with him.
However, director Joe Russo thinks otherwise, as he stated that Hulk's dislike of General Thaddeus Ross and his mistrust of the government might lead him to side with the Cap. He also regarded Thor as a wildcard. A for Robert Downey Jr., he thinks it is likely that Hulk will take Tony's side as they are "science bros".
Plot and casting speculations are plenty for the third movie, but until official plot details for Thor: Ragnarok is revealed, speculations must be treated with a proverbial grain of salt. It is currently slated to be released in November 03, 2017.
