The Samsung Galaxy S7 beats the iPhone 6s Plus in terms of camera and other improved features. The S7 gives brighter images than iPhone 6S Plus in low-light and is labeled as the best phone for its waterproof capability and fast-performing processor.
Samsung's new Galaxy S7 offers improved features on its camera. According to CNET, although the S7 only has a 12-megapixel sensor, it can still capture more light with its wider f/1.2 aperture. With this special camera feature, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is designed to produce brighter images in low-light than its great rival, the iPhone 6S Plus. Though Apple's iPhone 6s Plus has the same formidable camera, it lacked the distinctive ability of the S7 to capture brighter images in dim light.
Phone cameras have difficulty when it comes to low light due to their small image sensors which cannot take in as much light compared to the larger sensors of a DSLR camera. However, the S7 has larger pixels and a brighter and wider aperture, making it capable of getting good shots with less image noise in dim lighting. Meanwhile, the iPhone's shot has darker but more natural colors.
However, the opposite result was revealed in another photography test done on both phones with their camera flashes on. The iPhone 6S Plus registered a warmer and more natural color than the image produced by the S7.
Indeed, the Samsung Galaxy S7 affixed itself as an excellent on mobile image shooter like the Galaxy S6. It is capable of taking brilliant shots both outdoors and in dim light. The S7 has the edge over the iPhone 6S Plus when it comes to producing images with clearer details and contrasting scenes. But the iPhone 6S Plus takes better selfies even in poor lighting.
Rivalry still continues between the two phones. The S7 could be the best phone with its waterproof ability and fast performing processor. Cyber Shack said that the S7 is rated IP68, meaning it can be submerged in water as deep as 1.5m and for at least 30 minutes. Other liquids may include beer and champagne. A user tested on this by pouring a beer on his phone and testified like nothing happened to his device.
Lawyer Herald reported that the S7 has two processors: an Exynos 8890 for local markets and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip for international markets. On the other hand, the iPhone 6s Plus has an A9 GPU (power VRGT7600). In benchmark tests, the new Samsung Exynos 8890 used in EU had scored only 129,865 compared to Apple A9's score of 132,657- a difference of 2%.
On the other hand, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip beats Exynos and A9 chips in both AnTuTu test performances on graphics and processor. It registered a score of 136,383 in terms of chipset performance and a score of 55,098 in graphics. The Exynos 8890 ranked third with a total score of 38,545, while A9's GPU had a graphical score of 39,104.
