A leaked image of an alleged iPhone 7 case has surfaced, seemingly confirming the speculations that the device will be ditching the headphone jack port.
According to BGR, the leaked image of the case indicated that the general shape and features of the iPhone 7 is somewhat similar with the iPhone 6. This is because the case shows the same complete round corners and thin profile. The buttons are also positioned in the same locations on the case's sides, while the rear camera and flash combo are exactly where users expect them to be located.
Even though there are similarities, one can also find the differences and one of which is the port openings found on the bottom side of the device. Rather than a headphone jack, Lightning port, and speaker slots, the openings on the case suggest the headphone jack is gone, with the Lighting port seemingly bordered by speakers.
Furthermore, Forbes added tha the ditching of the headphone jack indicates that Apple is working with another speaker for the iPhone 7. With that being said, he device will have an improved external audio. On the other hand, its downside is that the chambers take up a fair amount of space that could be used for a larger battery instead. If Apple goes with the improved external sound design and it keeps the iPhone 7 at 4.7-inches, the size of the battery might suffer.
Aside from the ditching of headphone jack, Alphr stated that there are strong speculations that the next iPhone will be waterproof. After Apple has filed a patent for ports that eject water, it filed another for connections that self-heal, solving one of the main challenges of creating a waterproof phone.
Titled as "Electronic Device With Hidden Connector", the patent reveals a connector covered by a self-healing elastomer. The diagrams included in the patent also show the elastomer letting the penetration of a probe, and self-sealing once the probe is removed. The port is shielded from the elements at all times, but still allows quick and easy access for charging, headphones and anything else.
The iPhone 7 is also expected to feature wireless charging, but that speculation now looks somewhat less likely to happen. It was reported that Apple is working on wireless charging for its devices, but it's far from conventional. The report also suggests that Apple is developing cutting-edge technology that enables iPhones and iPads to be charged without a cable or charging mat.
The above mentioned information, though, are just based on leaked images and speculations, thus Apple patrons are advised to take it only as a guide. Nevertheless, more concrete details are expected to emerge as the iPhone 7 release nears.
