Apple iPhone 7 Rumors: Device to Retain 6s Dimensions With Thinner Lightning Port, No Waterproofing and More

By

Apple Inc. is set to hold an event this month, highlighting the new member of the iPhone and iPad family. However, the company's patrons are also looking forward to the release of iPhone 7. Recently, another rumor have surfaced stating that this handset would retain the iPhone 6s' dimensions, with a thinner Lightning port and no waterproofing.

According to Apple Insider, a report from Japanese blog 'Mac Otakara' has revealed some of the expected features and specs of Apple's so-called iPhone 7. It was stated that the handset's height and width are very similar to that of the iPhone 6s. However, as KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted prior to last year's iPhone debut, the upcoming model will be slimmer due to an LCD array that is 1-millimeter thinner than the current components.

Furthermore, BGR added that here are also talks indicating that Apple will completely do away with the tried and true 3.5mm headphone jack, and instead rely upon the device's Lightning port for audio-out. And with the effort to keep the device as thin as possible, the Lightning port itself may be thinner just like what was previously seen on other iPhone models.

It was also reported that the speculations that Apple would introduce a new waterproof composite material for iPhone 7 are incorrect. Instead, the iPhone 7 is believed to carry over the same levels of water resistance offered by the existing metal chassis design.

As for the iPhone 7's camera, 'Mac Otakara' stated that the future iPhone's rear-facing camera is to be flushed with the phone's metal casing. This means the company would ditch the camera bump seen on iPhone 6 and 6s. But it is still unclear if the iPhone 7 would have a dual-camera system designed by imaging firm LinX, which Apple purchased in 2015.

Moreover, a fresh report claimed that the smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 7 will not feature a dual-lens technology, though the larger 5.5-inch version might. Kuo was the first one to affirm that Apple is working on a dual-CCM imaging, saying the solution will incorporate two 12-megapixel sensors, one sporting optical image stabilization and a wider field of view, and another with a 2-3x telephoto lens. However, the tech analyst said there are supply constraints that could limit initial production to a special iPhone 7 Plus version.

Apart from the specs that was mentioned, N4BB noted that there have been predictions also stating that Apple Inc. would remove the rear Antenna bands and include an Apple A10 processor, more RAM, better TouchID integration and 3D Touch. It is also believed to arrive with a ceramic back.

These details are just based on speculations and rumors though, so it is advised to be taken lightly. Nevertheless, Apple Inc. still has plenty of time as the iPhone 7 is expected to make its first appearance on September and as it nears, more details should surface as well.
