Apple Inc. will be holding an event this month highlighting its new products including Apple Watch 2. The smart watch will run on watchOS 2.2 which will bring a lot of enhancements and improvements to the device.
According to Bitbag, there were reports stating that Apple Inc. won't be releasing the Apple Watch 2 in March. But discounts were recently spotted on Apple Watch fueling the possibility of the second version coming out during the company's March event. Nevertheless, if it's not going to happen, patrons of the Cupertino-based company will have to wait until September as separate rumor claims Apple Watch 2 and iPhone 7 will be launched together.
When it comes with the specs, Gizmodo noted that the Apple Watch 2 might be armed with a new chipset that allows more communication with the iPhone. It is also predicted to have a video camera that can be used for FaceTime. Previous leaks hinted that its design will remain largely unchanged but it might be thinner, which could stretch its battery life.
Aside from the Apple Watch 2, Mac Rumors stated that the watchOS 2.2 is also expected to debut on Apple's event this month. As a matter of fact, the American tech giant has started seeding the sixth beta of the upcoming watchOS 2.2 update to developers. It was less than a week after seeding the fifth watchOS 2.2 beta and three months after releasing watchOS 2.1 which was the first major update to the watchOS 2.2 operating system.
The watchOS 2.2, along with iOS 9.3, introduces support for pairing multiple Apple Watches with a single iPhone. Both of the firmware updates require each watch running watchOS 2.2 and each iPhone running iOS 9.3. The watchOS 2.2 also includes a revamped look for the built-in Maps app on the Apple Watch with access to the Nearby feature that was first introduced with iOS 9 and new buttons for quickly accessing directions to home and work. This firmware is also expected to boost under-the-hood performance and address issues that have been discovered since the release of watchOS 2.1.
Both Apple Watch 2 and watchOS 2.2 are expected to be launched this month. Current owners of Apple Watch can download the latest watchOS 2.2 using a dedicated Apple Watch app on an iPhone running the iOS 9.3 beta. They just have to visit General and Software update.
