'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' is an upcoming live-action adaptation of the book of the same name directed for the big-screen by Tim Burton. It recently released new official photographs featuring 'Penny Dreadful' actress Eva Green in the lead role.

According to Female First, new photographs from Tim Burton's upcoming 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' have recently been revealed. The film is a live-action adaptation of Ransom Riggs' debut novel of the same name published in 2011. The photographs reveal fantastical characters and surreal sets integrated into Burton's creepy yet whimsical style of filmmaking.

It also featured the first look at Eva Green as the titular Miss Alma LeFay Peregrine, the headmistress of the mysterious children's home on the island of Cairnholm. In the original book, she is revealed to be a magical being herself - a Syndrigasti - with the ability of transforming into a falcon as well as manipulating time. Green's character is described as a distinguished woman who typically dresses in black Victorian mourning clothes and keeps her hair in a top knot.

According to Empire, the film will be Green's return collaboration with Burton, who she worked with in the 2012 horror-comedy film 'Dark Shadows'. Burton described Miss Peregrine as a "weird Mary Poppins like character-a strong and mysterious person who looks like she could turn into a bird. That's Eva."

Burton added the film will feature a world where women are the main protectors. He admitted that he initially thought working with a large cast of children would be daunting but in the end, they were all professionals on-set.

Asa Butterfield of 'The Boy in the Striped Pajamas' fame is set to portray the 16-year old main character Jake. Butterfield plays a teen haunted by nightmares following a family tragedy and travels to find a mysterious orphanage where his late grandfather once lived. He then discovers that it is a doorway to a mystical realm and is home to people gifted with otherworldly powers.

Other actors in the cast include Samuel L. Jackson, Judi Dench, Allison Janey, Kim Dickens, Chris O'Dowd, Terrence Stamp, Ella Purnell and Rupert Everett. According to Movie Scope Mag, cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel and editor Chris Lebenzon have reunited with Burton for the project. 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' was filmed on location in Florida, Cornwall and Blackpool.

'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' is an upcoming dark fantasy adventure film directed by Tim Burton and written by Jane Goldman. It is scheduled to be released on September 30, 2016.
