Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Status for HTC Handsets Under AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon

By

Just like other smartphone manufacturers, HTC has been doubling its effort to deliver the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware to its smartphones. Even major carriers in US like AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon are also working hard to bring the software to its HTC handsets subscribers.

According to Neurogadget, the Vice President of Product Management of HTC, Mo Versi, has announced last week that the HTC One M9 users will start getting the Android 6.0 update on their devices soon. Finally, the said Marshmallow update has begun rolling out to subscribers on T-Mobile as well as Verizon networks. On the other hand, some reports suggest that HTC One M9 owners on AT&T will obtain the latest Android update at a much later date due to the carrier's involvement in technical issues concerning the installation of the Marshmallow update.

Meanwhile, Canadian users of the unlocked version of HTC A9 will also obtain the Android 6.0 update on their devices. This was based on a post made by Leon Rosenzwaig, who is a product manager at HTC. Further reports also affirmed that Canadian carriers such as Wind Mobile, Rogers, Sasktel and Videotron have also started releasing the Marshmallow update to the One M9 users.

For owners of the One M9 around the world, the exact schedule of roll out is not yet confirmed, but sources have disclosed that it is expected to happen 'very soon'. As for TELUS subscribers with HTC One M8 and M9 handsets, the Android M update is already available for installation.

Aside from the One M9, One M8 and One A9, Yibada noted other HTC handsets that are eligible for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware include HTC One E9, HTC One ME, HTC One M8 EYE, HTC One E8, HTC Desire 826, HTC Desire 820, HTC Desire 816 and HTC Butterfly 3. Moreover, there have been several reports suggesting that the Desire EYE phones will get the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update soon.

As a matter of fact, Gospel Herald stated that a Twitter leakster known as @LlabTooFeR said Android 6.0.1 will be available to the Desire EYE phones and it seems like it will be arriving to European HTC smartphones first. If this is accurate, then it won't be that long before the software makes its way over the sea. The tipster also claimed the Android Marshmallow was supposed to land Desire EYE units last month, but a lot of the delay came up from the new Android lining up with the Sense UI.

Nevertheless, it is very visible that HTC together with the US major carriers are doing its best to bring the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware. HTC device owners could manually check the update by going to Settings and System Update.
