A third Thor film entitled Thor: Ragnarok is currently in the works in Marvel, and while majority of the cast are expected to be back along with new cast members, one actor confirmed his absence in the flick. Several plot speculations have also surfaced for the movie.

Stellan Skarsgard who plays the role of Dr. Erik Selvig confirmed that he will not appear in Thor: Ragnarok. It is unclear what plans Marvel has for his character, but Skarsgard quickly said that he still has a movie in his contract, should he be needed in other upcoming movies of the MCU.

"I have a 5-film deal with them, and they still have one option. Thor 3 is not on my slate, but maybe the next Avengers", Skarsgard said as reported by Jobs N Hire. Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth is expected to reprise the titular character, along with Jaimie Alexander who will reprise her role as Lady Sif. Mark Ruffalo was also confirmed to join the cast as Hulk, who will join Thor in his adventures in the realms.

According to Master Herald, several plot speculations are currently being linked to the franchise's third installment. One claim suggest that the next movie could reveal Odin's fate since Loki was seen in the previous film posing as Odin in front of Thor while sitting in the King's chair.

Another plot speculation suggest that the third film could introduce a new female villain, Hela, who would be played by Cate Blanchett. The rumor mill suggest that Loki could team up with Hela to destroy Asgard. However, Tom Hiddleston's return as Loki and Blanchett's casting are yet to be confirmed.

As reported by Australia Network News, Heimdall is also rumored to die in the upcoming flick. In the third film, Thor's Mjolnir is rumored to be put in danger, and threatened to be destroyed which Heimdall would reportedly try to save costing him his life.

Rumors and plot speculation for Thor: Ragnarok are plentiful, but it is worth noting that such claims must be treated with a grain of salt as official plot details are yet to be released. Thor: Ragnarok is set to be directed by Taika Waititi. It is currently slated to be released on November 03, 2017.
