'Predator 4', otherwise known as 'The Predator', is an upcoming science-fiction horror film scheduled to be released on March 2018. Shane Black, who directed 'Lethal Weapon' and 'Iron Man 3', is set to helm the new film and is co-writing the screenplay with Fred Dekker.

According to Den of Geek, the fourth installment in the science-fiction and horror franchise is set to be released on March 2, 2018. The original film in the series was first released in 1987 and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as the lead protagonist Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer. The film directed by John McTiernan and penned by Jim Thomas and John Thomas earned $98.3 million against a $15 million budget at the box office.

The latest installment is reportedly more of a reimagining than a reboot of the series. According to Scified, it will be a direct follow-up to McTiernan's 1987 release and will not be a sequel to 'Predators' released in 2010. Although no official synopsis has been released as of the present, it was revealed that the running title for 'Predator 4' will simply be 'The Predator'.

The terrifying fictional main antagonist comes to mind basing mainly on the title of the new film. This extraterrestrial species was first introduced as trophy-hunting creatures that hunt other species, including humans, purely for sport. The Predators, or Yautja, are depicted as bipedal humanoid E.T.'s with the advanced technology for camouflaging, interstellar travel as well as energy weapons.

The Predators mutilate their pray before claiming their kill trophy. They are highly resilient to physical damage, bacteria and viruses and demonstrate massive strength enough to tear their prey with minimal effort. They have been featured in subsequent follow-ups in the franchise as well as crossovers in the 'Alien' franchise including Paul W.S. Anderson's 'Alien vs. Predator'.

According to Digital Spy, the first official poster for the upcoming 'Predator 4' film had been unveiled in a Facebook post with the accompanying caption, "here we go again, bro". The caption was reportedly taken from the original 1987 release's dialogue.

'Predator 4', otherwise known as 'The Predator', is an upcoming science-fiction horror film written and directed by Shane Black. It is scheduled to be released on March 2, 2018 in the United States. No cast members have been announced as of the present.
