Independence Day: Resurgence is set to return to the silver screen nearly 2 decades since the original film hit theaters. Aliens are still expected to destroy U.S. cities like they've done in the first film, but they're now targeting a larger scale. Meanwhile, the franchise director speaks up on what the fans should be expecting in the upcoming sequel.
For the second time, aliens will be back to make chaos within Earth's capital cities and based on the newest release of photos, they've taken outrage in London. According to Comic Book Resources, London has been conquered as aliens appear in the sky. The sky appeared to be aflame in the image from "Independence Day: Resurgence" as noted by the site.
Comic Book speculates that this is a telling of what the fans should expect once the film will be released. Alien tech is always far advanced than humans and the image can make one wonder if the aliens have the ability to lift cities from the ground and turn them into weapon against the human race. Moreover, how can the characters be able to save the day since Captain Steven Hiller won't be returning in the film is another question to be answered when the film debuts.
Nonetheless, director Leonard Emmerich shared that the world will be fighting as one in the upcoming film. According to Movie News Guide, Emmerich stated that everybody have lost someone in the original film and the world is far ready than before. He added that fans will see the "greatest nation, together with the biggest nations of the world" in battling the aliens. On the side of antagonists, the director promises the fans of bigger and more disgusting creatures this time.
Independence Day: Resurgence is the upcoming sequel to the 1996 blockbuster film which are both directed by Leonard Emmerich. The sequel will see the return of some of the original cast like Jeff Goldblum, Judd Hirsch, and Bill Pullman and new additions like Liam Hemsworth, Joey King, Maika Moore and Jessie Usher.
