Pennywise the Clown is officially returning, this time to the big screens as Stephen King's "It" is set to be remade. While the film hasn't indicated a release date yet, a few details about the production of upcoming film have been revealed.
The iconic evil clown, Pennywise, is slated to return 20 years after his last TV appearance to scare a new generation of kids. Alt Press wrote that Roy Lee confirmed that each installment of the two-part film would receive an R-rating. The producer expected the R-rating since they are considering different perspectives in doing the horror film. Lee said "We're taking it and making the movie from the point of view of the kids," before adding, "and then making another movie from the point of view of the adults."
Stephen King's It reboot will start its production this year. According to Consequence of Sound, Lee confirmed that they are very close to finalizing the draft of the script. He is hopeful that the budget will be within their reach and is looking forward to commence its principal photography later this year. It was noted that Stephen King's "It" was on hiatus since "True Detective" Cary Fukunaga dropped the directorial baton before he was replaced by Andres Muschietti.
Vanity Fair discussed the production progress of the upcoming horror film in their article. Will Poulter of "We're The Millers" will reportedly replace Tim Curry in the lead clown role, Pennywise the Clown, and the adaptation will be faithful towards the novel of Stephen King. Since the planned film remained on hiatus for months, it is unknown if Poulter is still on board, considering he's signed when Fukunaga was still involved. Poulter's involvement is yet to be confirmed.
Directed by Andres Muschietti , the film is going to be a two-part installment which centers on the terrifying murderous clown, Pennywise. Apart from "It", Stephen King's other best-seller "The Dark Tower" is also being adapted into a movie.
