'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' may focus more on Javier Bardem's Captain Salazar instead of Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow. Depp, who always portrayed the main protagonist in the series, revealed that he was aware that some people thought he looked like a hobo.

According to Movie News Guide, the fifth installment in Disney's long-running swashbuckling action-adventure cinematic series may focus more on Javier Bardem's antagonistic Captain Salazar instead of Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow.

Bardem joins the new cast as the villainous captain who leads a troop of deadly ghost pirates in search of the mighty Trident of Poseidon to kill every pirate at sea as well as defeat his long time arch nemesis Jack Sparrow. It was reported that even though Jack Sparrow remains one of the franchises' most beloved characters, he may eventually take a back seat in the upcoming film.

The series reboot will also feature the return of Orlando Bloom as Will Turner and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa. Newcomers Kaya Scodelario of 'The Maze Runner' and Brenton Thwaites of 'Maleficent' will portray Carina Smyth and Henry Turner, respectively.

Depp, who played odd pirate captain Jack Sparrow in all four previous installments in the franchise, recalled that Disney it took him "37 seconds" seal the deal of playing the lead protagonist when he had a meeting with the studio about their planned pirate series.

According to Collider, the 52-year old actor revealed, "Basically, the 37 seconds was that they talked about making a movie about one of their other rides and I wasn't all that enthusiastic about it... And then, suddenly, Dick Cook, who was at Disney at the time, said, "Are you familiar with our ride, Pirates of the Caribbean?" I said, "Yeah, sure, I loved it. When I was a kid, it was that and the Haunted Mansion for me." That wasn't the other one they had offered me. I swear, it wasn't. So anyway, he said, "What do you think about Pirates of the Caribbean?" And I just said, "I'm in!"

The actor also admitted that he knew people thought he looked like a hobo in real life, according to Vanity Fair. Depp joked, "When I met people they said, 'You do look like a hobo, but you smell really good.' And goddamn it... I smell really good!"

Depp is best known for his quirky fashion choices of vintage menswear, eclectic jewelry and overall rugged sense of style. He collaborated with French fashion house Dior for their new fragrance Dior Sauvage.

'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' is an upcoming action-adventure and comedy film directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. It is scheduled to be released on May 26, 2017.
