ABC's Once Upon a Time gears up for the second half of its Season 5, premiering on March 6, Sunday. Aside from the heroes led by Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and the Charmings (Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas) entering the Underworld to find Killian "Hook" Jones (Colin O'Donoghue), producers are hinting on appearances of characters from the Greek mythology beginning from the series' 100th episode.
First stop, the episode will focus on Regina's (Lana Parilla) story, TV Line reported. Regina's relationship with her mother Cora (Barbara Hershey), who is the mayor of Underworld, will be explored during the episode, according to co-creator Eddy Kitsis.
"We've never seen Regina and her mother cordial," Kitsis said.
The Underworld reunion will show the resolution of issues between mother and daughter, especially after Snow White unintentionally caused the death of Cora. Producers clarified that the Underworld setting is more for resolving issues.
"It's not hell. The underworld isn't hell - it is a place between. It's the place for people with unfinished business, so it's not about good or evil," co-creator Adam Horowitz was cited by The Hollywood Reporter, according to iDigitalTimes.
The highlight of the rest of the season, however, may likely be the heroes' encounter with Greek mythology characters, according to spoilers revealed in TV Line. Ally McBeal actor Greg Germann, in particular, will be playing Hades. Further, the series already cast actors for the roles of Hercules and Meg, PopSugar reported.
Spoilers also revealed the appearance of new characters Prince Henry (Tony Perez), Sidney Glass (Giancarlo Esposito), The Blind Witch (Emma Caulfield), Peter Pan (Robbie Kay), Cruella de Vil (Victoria Smurfit), Milah (Rachel Shelley), and Charming's (Josh Dallas) twin brother.
The crew will also have a new captain in the midst with Costas Mandylor playing Captain Silver. The new captain was rumored to be the protagonist Captain Long John Silver of the novel Treasure Island.
