‘The Strangers 2’ Update: Horror Sequel Currently On Hold; Delay in Release Likely, Cancellation Possible

By

"The Strangers 2" was announced last year as a sequel to the 2008 horror film starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman. It is promised to be an awesome film that will scare the audience more than how its predecessor did. However, production issues are currently troubling the sequel, which might delay the film or worst, lead to its cancellation.

Relativity Media just announced the making of another horror film, "The Strangers 2", slated for a December release but a producer talked about its possibility of being delayed. According to Dread Central, the long-awaited sequel to "The Strangers" might be hold on hiatus as revealed by producer Roy Lee. Roy Lee divulged that Relativity Media is having some financial issues that have left the film's fate unknown. The producer said "We have a script that's fantastic but they've had some financial difficulties so it's unclear as to whether or not they'll be able to finance the movie."

This being said, We Got This Covered detailed that the rumored December 2016 is on hold for now. Although Marcel Langenegger was already chosen to helm the sequel and has tapped Ben Ketai who wrote the script which Lee praised. The article also said that though "The Strangers" has a small-scale nature, Relativity Media is not going to push the filming to a rush. However, fans shouldn't be sad about this news as the film is only on hold and this means that the production team would eventually get the green light once the studio's financial issues are stable.

Meanwhile, there has been no reveal of further information on what "The Strangers 2" will offer to the audience, but The Celebrity Café wrote the synopsis of the franchise. According to the site, the sequel would follow the family of four who has to make it through the night in a trailer park. But like the first film, they will be subject as prey to the mask-wearing murderers.

"The Strangers 2" follows the 2008 horror film of the same title. The first film proved to be a hit as it gained $82 million over a $9 million budget. The original followed the story of a couple as they were terrorized by three masked assailants.
