Samsung launched the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge at the MWC 2016 held in Barcelona, Spain. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge might be the best Android phones ever - complete with better cameras, batteries, and the latest Marshmallow OS.
The latest set of Samsung flagships was unveiled today in the Unpacked event at the MWC 2016. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge fix and refine the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge's flaws. The Verge reported that the S7 and S7 Edge are the best Samsung phones, and might also be the best Android phones ever made.
A feature that stood out from the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge was the upgraded camera. Samsung previously announced that its new flagships will tout 12 MP shooters capable of capturing beautiful photos even in low-light. The S7's dual-pixel camera reportedly loads faster than that of the Apple iPhone 6S Plus and Nexus 6P.
The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge carry a larger battery capacity than the Galaxy S6. The new set of flagships boasts up to 3,000 mAh power cells capable of wireless charging. The bigger batteries on the S7 and S7 Edge are expected to resolve their predecessors' battery issues. The new Always On Display functionality will also help save on battery life by only showing important notifications without completely waking up the device.
Along with this, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are revealed to run on Snapdragon 820 processors instead of in-house Exynos chips. Qualcomm said that it has fixed the overheating problem of the S810 processors in its latest chipset.
According to Samsung, the new phones will have water-resistance, Android 6.0 Marshmallow with TouchWiz, and microSD card slots expandable up to 200 GB. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be available for pre-order starting February 23. Those who pre-order the new phones will also get a free Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus and a 6-game package.
Like the new LG G5, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge sport a full-metal design that takes much after the Galaxy S6, iPhone 6, and 6S. It has a 5.5" QHD Super AMOLED curved display that delivers crisp graphics. Users who have tried the new Samsung phones at the MWC 2016 were amazed at how nice and easy it is to hold.
Ars Technica said that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be sold at a very expensive price (around $700 to $800). However, the features and refinements that Samsung added to the new phones justify the premium price tag.
Pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge start on February 23 in the US and UK. Deliveries are expected to begin on March 11.
