The rumored LG G5 will allegedly run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The upcoming LG flagship is expected to have a Magic Slot that enables battery replacement.
A new benchmark listing on Geekbench revealed that the LG G5 will run the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS topped with LG's in-house UI. According to Tech Radar, the benchmark result showed that the LG G5 will have a more superior performance than its biggest rival, the Samsung Galaxy S7 flagship. The LG G5 garnered 5061 multi-core points, more than the Galaxy S7's 4979 points. However, it was a bit behind in the single-core test, gaining 2248 points compared to S7's 2282 score.
The LG G5 seems to be a promising device as it will reportedly come with the latest Snapdragon 820 processor on board. This means that users can expect faster processing power from the device. The G5 will have 3GB of RAM and a 4000 mAh removable battery that will last better than the G4.
Although the LG G5 will be categorized as a mid-range device, it will sport an all-metal straight body for a premium look. It means that LG will ditch the cured back found in the G4. The LG G5's display will be slightly smaller compared to current smartphones.
Gizmodo reported that the LG G5 will have a Magic Slot that enables users to replace the phone's battery. Because of this feature, the G5 is dubbed as a weird device that offers something unique. It is worth noting that one of the biggest selling points of the LG G4 is its replaceable battery.
LG announced that the G5 will be unveiled in February 21 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016. Rumors have surfaced that the LG G5 will offer mobile payments service with LG Pay. This feature is said to be revealed at the MWC.
The upcoming 2016 LG phone will also have dual cameras and an Always on Display mode. Droid Life said that the Always on Display function is similar to the Moto Display. The feature allows the device to use a minimum amount of battery while still displaying the time and notifications on screen.
The LG G5 could have the same price as its predecessors, which is at around $600. The upcoming 2016 LG phone will reportedly be available on all major carriers like Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T.
