Microsoft Corporation has started rolling out the Windows 10 Mobile update to its flagship handsets, Lumia 950 and 950 XL. This firmware upgrade is expected to bring a lot of changes and enhancements to these smartphones.
According to International Business Times, Mike Mongeau, Microsoft blog moderator, stated that the company has started rolling out the February cumulative update (10.0.10586.107) for Windows 10 Mobile. The firmware update's availability will start with open market variants and is expected to reach everyone over the next week as the American tech company monitors and ensures quality of the release. The newest software update is currently being made available over the air (OTA) to Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 550.
For the complete changelog that the Windows 10 Mobile update will bring to Lumia 950 and 950 XL, TechnoBuffalo reported it will provide reliability and stability improvement on the device. The Bluetooth connectivity with car and other accessories are also included. This update also brings Microsoft Edge improvements to PDF rendering and navigation. Users could also notice the enhancement to battery usage with Iris Recognition for Windows Hello.
The Windows 10 Mobile update also carry in an upgraded system improvement that will fix a situation where some users had phone software updates and app downloads stuck at 0% for extended period of time. It also brings change to update system which now requires the device to be plugged into a charger when downloading and preparing phone software updates.
This firmware update also fixes the problem causing erroneous low storage prompts for some users when trying to download phone software updates. A fix for a problem that caused erroneous prompts of Outlook account settings being out-of-date for some users, although account settings had not been changed, is also brought by the software. Aside from that, the OS brings fix for a problem that caused some phones to get stuck on BitLocker Recovery screen after a reset.
Upon updating the Lumia 950 and 950 XL's OS, the above mentioned changes will be experienced. In addition, a user can also manually check for the availability of the update. NDTV Gadgets noted that they just have to go to Settings > Update & security > Phone update > Check for updates.
As the Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile update brings a lot of changes and enhancements with the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, owners of these handsets will be very pleased. Aside from these smartphones, the American tech company has also started delivering the update to its Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 devices.
