Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL Scheduled To Receive Windows 10 Update Soon

After Microsoft introduced the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, the company has been working towards updating and upgrading these devices. Finally, a Windows 10 update is soon expected to roll out for the said handsets.

According to News4C, it was in October when Microsoft has introduced the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL devices as the company's flagship handsets. Months after its debut, a firmware upgrade is soon expected to roll out for the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, which will update the Windows 10 Mobile OS on the phone to a whole new level.

WinBeta reported that Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build 10586.71 was rolled out to participants in the fast ring this past week. This firmware build was a cumulative update for Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build 10586 containing additional bug fixes. But Microsoft Corporation didn't stop there as the company released the same build but to the slow ring a few days later.

The Marshaltown cited some of the enhancements that the Windows 10 Mobile OS update for the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL will bring. One of which is the Forced HDR, which is noted to be one of the needs for the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL devices. This is because Microsoft has to do a major change in the HDR mode.

The current options that are available for the user are 'Off' and 'Auto', so users do not get to decide when to manually use the mode. Nevertheless, with the upcoming firmware update 'On' option will be introduced. With this, users can click HDR pictures whenever they want resulting in better looking pictures under bright light conditions.

Another enhancement is the bug fixes for Skype, the owners of Lumia 950 and 950 XL who use the Skype services frequently have complained that they face a major problem with the device. The Skype users are not able to log into their account once they have logged out in 4G LTE connections. To log-in, they stated that Wi-Fi connectivity is needed. In addition, drops in video calls are highly common when users are using the 4G LTE connections. Upon updating the software, these issues with the Skype application are expected to be fixed.

The battery life of the device is also set to be enhanced. It was reported that the time data that is being consumed has now been increased. The device will reportedly live up to 12% more than it was in the past before the latest Windows 10 mobile OS update for the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are installed.

The Windows 10 Mobile OS update for Lumia 950 and 950 XL is scheduled to roll out in mid-February.
