Sony Xperia Z6 Release Set on IFA 2016; Device to Feature 3D Touch, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and more

By

Smartphone manufacturers like LG and Samsung have confirmed that its flagship handsets will be unveiled on MWC 2016. But Sony Mobile will be on a different track as it is expected to release its Xperia Z6 on IFA 2016 featuring 3D Touch, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and other amazing specs.

According to Yibada, it was previously rumored that the upcoming Sony flagship will make its first appearance at the Mobile World Conference this month. However, the Japanese tech giant will instead launch its forthcoming device in Berlin in September.

Tech analysts believe that since the earlier Xperia Z series devices were unveiled at the IFA events, the Xperia Z6 will be no different. In addition, the unlocked versions of the current Sony flagship device, the Xperia Z5, recently hit the market shelves in North America. This somewhat indicates that the launch of Xperia Z6 will not take place this month.

As for the Sony Xperia Z6's specifications, Morning News USA noted that this handset may be equipped with Apple iPhone 6s's Force Touch technology. If this speculation is proven to be true, Sony will introduce pressure detection technology for the Xperia Z6 screen which will allow apps to run smoothly by detecting touch patterns of users.

It was also predicted that the Sony Xperia Z6 would arrive featuring support for microSD card that will enhance user's experience. This would be a great move for the Japanese tech company as the expandable memory is highly in demand these days.

Aside from the features mentioned above, International Business Times added that the Sony Xperia Z6 might be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820. This chipset is expected to work hand-in-hand with a 4GB of RAM. For the OS, it is almost certain that the Xperia Z6 would be running with the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow just like other flagship handsets that are bound to be released this year.

Camera-wise, it is known that Sony has been the market leader when it comes to impressive snappers. As a matter of fact, the company also supplies most flagships from other companies as well with their technology. The Xperia Z6 is rumored to sport a huge 23MP rear camera with an F2.0 aperture and a front-facing snapper between 5 to 8MP.

There is no available information about the battery capacity, but as the Xperia Z5 is powered by a 2,900mAh battery, the upcoming Xperia Z6 should have something close to a 3,200 mAh capacity to support the upgraded processor. In addition, Sony's STAMINA Mode and Ultra-STAMINA Mode coupled with Android Marshmallow's doze mode would be able to provide long-lasting usage for the device on a single charge.

Lastly, for the Sony Xperia Z6's design, it is believed that this handset will feature a 5.2-inch screen just like the Z5. This means that the screen height would not be pulled down, so the width may be broadened to fit into the square size speculation. Rumors suggest that a water-proof glass and metallic body is also in the works.

On the screen part, the Xperia Z6 will sport the signature IPS LCD panel that Sony uses for most of its smartphone screens. As far as the display is concerned, the Xperia Z5 Premium, which exhibited a 4K display has left most tipsters confused about whether the same can be seen in the Z6. However, most reports until now claimed that a Full HD display is what is likely on the cards, which roughly measures to 1,920 x 1,280 pixels and a 420 - 440 pixel per density based on screen size.

Since it's a tradition for Sony to unveil its flagship devices during IFA, it is really possible that the Sony Xperia Z6 will make its first appearance at the said occasion. As for the specs and features, the above mentioned details are just based on speculations so it should be taken as a pinch of salt.
