Sony Mobile recently launched its Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact in the US and a while after, these handsets have hit the market shelves. Currently, the smartphones from the Japanese tech company are having a price slash of $50-$60 in US.
According to International Business Times, the flagship handset Sony Xperia Z5 has gone through a $60 price cut, while the Xperia Z5 Compact's price has been reduced by $50. The original prices are $599.99 and $499.99, correspondingly. With the price slash, interested buyers can now purchase the Z5 for $539, and the Compact model for $449.
Amazon is now offering both the Xperia Z5 and Z5 compact devices with the reduced price tag while Best Buy has discounted the Compact version only. Those who want to purchase these Sony handsets can just drop by the respective sites of these e-retailers.
Tech Times noted that both the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact are powerful smartphones with plenty of amazing specs to offer. These handsets are delivering a high-end performance, but the U.S.-bound models arrive with a certain limitation.
While the Xperia Z5 lineup in other markets boasts a fingerprint sensor for extra security, for some unknown reason, Sony decided not to include this feature in the U.S. models. The Japanese tech company has yet to give a good explanation for this decision.
The Xperia fans are already frustrated with the delay, and the removal of the fingerprint sensor has added more fuel to the fire. Based on the situation, it is speculated that the late release and the lack of a fingerprint sensor might have something to do with the new price cuts. This was because discounts don't typically apply so soon after the product is released.
