Despite the tight competition, Sony has not given up on manufacturing premium line smartphones with its Xperia Z5 models release last year. Now, the Japanese tech company is speculated to unveil another flagship line-up again dubbed as the Xperia Z6 series that has five variants and a Lite version.
According to Vine Report, the Sony Xperia Z6 Lite joins the other handsets in the series which include the Xperia Z6 mini with a 4-inch display, Xperia Z6 Compact with 4.6-inch display, Xperia Z6 with 5.2-inch display, Xperia Z6 Plus with 8.8-inch display, and Xperia Z6 Ultra with 6.4-inch display.
The Xperia Z6 lineup is supposed to add on the Xperia Z6 Lite as a part of it. Based on the earlier leaks about the new flagship collection, the five above mentioned handsets were hinted. Nevertheless, a new leaked roadmap from T-Mobile showed that the Mini version in the lineup has been scrapped, decreasing the number of the smartphones to four. The smallest variant is then reported to be replaced by the phone and tablet fusion which is initially called the Z6 Lite.
Christian Post cited some of the possible features that might be present with the Xperia Z6 line-up. The upcoming flagship smartphones of Sony is expected to be engineered with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, except for the mini sub-model.
The pressure sensitive technology similar to the 3D touch of Apple, is also speculated to be present on the Xperia Z6 and the Xperia Z6 Plus. On the other hand, the rumored Z6 Lite will be armored with a Snapdragon 650 chipset, which is actually a rebranded version of the previous Snapdragon 618.
Phones Review added that the device will be packed with 4GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of internal storage. For the Sony Xperia Z6 Premium concept, it may be armed with a 30-megapixel rear-facing camera unit with 4K video capture, while up front is an 8-megapixel snapper.
A 4,000 mAh battery and support for USB Type-C port are also included in the specs of the handset that is said to be just 6.7mm thick and is shown in Chrome, Gold, or White color varieties.
One of the eye-catching features of the upcoming series is that the volume button can be used to scroll. The overall look of this concept Sony Xperia Z6 Premium design is not too different to the Xperia Z5 Premium, although the corners and edges appear to be slightly more rounded.
Though the above mentioned information has not been confirmed by Sony yet, the upcoming flagship handsets of the Japanese smartphone maker is expected to make an appearance during the Mobile World Congress this March.
