Huawei to unveil P9 flagship smartphone, 2-in-1 PC tablet at MWC 2016

Huawei is expected to launch its high-end smartphone, Huawei P9, during the Mobile World Congress 2016. This handset is predicted to make its first appearance along with a 2-in-1 tablet PC particularly made for people in the business industry.

According to Android Geeks, leaked renders have surfaced recently seemingly confirming most of the previously rumored details regarding the Huawei P9. These include an all-metal anybody construction, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a dual camera setup at the back.

Although the Mobile World Congress is just right around the corner, rumors suggest the P9 will not be making an appearance during event. Instead, it is more likely to go official at a dedicated event by the end of this month or early next month.

Based on the leaked images, the Huawei P9 will be available in four color options when it hit the market shelves -Gold, White, Pink, and Grey. Like other previous Huawei flagship devices, this one will also arrive with the Huawei branding both on the front as well as the back. At the back, the main highlight is undoubtedly the dual lens camera layout and both sensors will boast of an identical 12 megapixel resolution.

When it comes with the hardware, the Huawei P9 is expected to feature a 5.2-inch 1080p display which is going to be powered by the manufacturer's in-house developed Kirin 955 SoC. It is also expected to be packed with 4GB RAM and a 2900mAh capacity battery.

In addition, there are previous reports suggesting that the Huawei P9 will launch in four different variants, but only one of these will sport the dual camera setup at the back. The dual camera setup will reportedly allow post-capture refocus, simulated aperture adjustments and various filter applications.

As for the Huawei P9's price, Ubergizmo noted that its predecessor Huawei P8 was launched last year tagged at $530 for the base model with 16GB of storage. Assuming Huawei is keeping to this pricing model, tech enthusiasts and Huawei patrons could expect the Huawei P9 to be priced similarly as well. The P8 Lite was priced at $249 so it can be assumed that the P9 Lite will be priced at the same range as well. However, there is no word on the P9 Max as of the moment.

Aside from the Huawei P9, the Chinese tech company is also expected to unveil a 2-in-1 tablet PC. IBNLive stated that this "Matebook" device could run Windows 10. The tablet PC is lined up to become the competitor of Microsoft's own Surface Pro 4. Based on predictions, this two-in-one tablet will arrive with a mechanical keyboard and stylus for quick, easy transformation into a hybrid PC just like the Google Pixel C, which runs Android instead of Windows. There's even a tendency that Huawei's device could support both OS.

Fans and enthusiasts will have to wait though until Huawei's pre-MWC event on February 21 to find out what's in store on both P9 and Matebook.
