Chinese tech company Xiaomi has confirmed that its upcoming flagship smartphone Xiaomi Mi 5 will debut on February 24th. This much anticipated device is speculated to feature a 5.15-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and more.

As the release of this handset is imminent, rumors about its specs and features have made consistent round on the rumor mill. Phone Arena noted that the Xiaomi Mi 5 may sport a 5.15-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and be powered by a 64-bit, octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, clocked at 2.15 GHz. Although no hints were given regarding its memory or storage, enthusiasts are expecting at least 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory.

Camera wise, the Xiaomi Mi 5 could boast a 16MP sensor, assisted by OIS and laser autofocus, and a 4 MP selfie snapper. As a matter of fact, some impressive photos have surfaced which were allegedly taken with Xiaomi Mi 5. These images were posted by the company's VP of International Hugo Barra, so Xiaomi fans can't wait to see if the real deal lives up to that hype.

When it comes with the battery capacity, Android Headlines stated that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be fuelled by a 2,190 mAh power pack. This handset is also predicted to arrive with support for Type-C USB, NFC, and dual-SIM functionality. The 4G LTE connectivity is also speculated to be included in this package.

As for the Xiaomi Mi 5's design, a physical home button will be most likely located below the display with the fingerprint scanner built into it. As of the moment, two different design variants have been mentioned and that is an all-metal model, and the glass + metal variant. Reports suggest that the Chinese tech company is planning to introduce both of these devices, but it is not yet certain.

As previously reported, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be released in China and at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016, Barcelona, on the very same day. This will be the first time in the company's history to reveal a smartphone outside China, suggesting it is ready to enter developed markets of Europe and America.

As usual, the company still hasn't given a sneak peek of the upcoming device and these details are merely based on predictions and rumors. With the company's event nearing, concrete information about the Xiaomi Mi will hopefully be provided soon.
