Xiaomi Mi 5 GFXBench Test Reveals 5.7" Display, 3 GB RAM, 64 GB In-Built Storage and More

By

It has been over a year and a half since Xiaomi has revealed its Mi 4 and now the Chinese tech company is bound to release its successor, the Xiaomi Mi 5. The next handset in the Mi lineup has been spotted on GFXBench recently, revealing its features that include a 5.7" display, 3 GB RAM, 64 GB internal memory and more.

According to Phones Review, the Xiaomi Mi 5 has been leaked for so many times and has been running rampant through the rumor mill since early last year. Now, it seems that the release of the handset is finally forthcoming as another piece of information about it has surfaced. This time around, it is from a more dependable source than the previous retail listing, although some of the specifications are confusing.

Android Headlines reported that a GFXBench test revealed that Xiaomi Mi 5 will feature a 5.7-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display resolution. It will be armed with a huge 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. However, it was also reported that this may be the standard variant since Xiaomi have plans of introducing a 4GB RAM model as well.

The Mi 5 is expected to be engineered with a Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC. This particular piece of detail has been confirmed previously by Xiaomi's Executive, adding to the fact that the handset will sport a 1080p panel.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Xiaomi's MIUI 7 on top of it. The listing did not mention any detail about Mi 5's camera sensors, but if rumors are to be believed, the Mi 5 might be armed with a 16-megapixel rear-facing and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper.

Various leaks which surfaced lately showed a physical home button on the Mi 5 that seems a bit strange for Xiaomi. But if accurate, the physical home button will be placed below the display which will probably be used as a fingerprint scanner, too.

The device will be accessible in both all-metal, and metal + glass variants. The glass variant might be factual as International Business Times said on its article that a leaker named Steve Hemmerstoffer has posted a picture of the supposed Xiaomi Mi 5. The images have been shared by a Weibo user. This is a pleasant surprise for fans and tech enthusiasts as the handset in the picture has a glass back panel that looks trendy.

Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to make its first public appearanc in Beijing and in Barcelona on February 24th, as confirmed by the Chinese tech company.
