A device believed to be the LG G5 Lite was spotted in a benchmark entry equipped with Android KitKat and a midrange Snapdragon 625 processor. The rumored LG G5 may have a quick charging feature similar to the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7.
The LG G5 may have a downgraded version as suggested by a benchmark test result seen in GFXBench. The listing revealed that a device codenamed LG 840, believed to be the LG G5 Lite, will have midrange specs and features. Tech Times reported that the LG G5 Lite was listed to run on an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor and Adreno 510 GPU.
It was also revealed that the lite version of the LG G5 will sport have a smaller display of 5.3"with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. According to the benchmark listing, the LG G5 Lite may have 32GB memory and 3GB RAM. The midrange smartphone could tout 8MP cameras at the front and back.
However, a big disappointment in the LG G5 Lite might be its operating system. It was revealed in the benchmark entry that the toned-down variant of the LG G5 will run Android KitKat, not the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Yet, Mobipicker said that the listing might not be too accurate.
The LG G5 Lite may launch along with the LG G5 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 in February 21. The LG G5 will rival the Samsung Galaxy S7 slated to launch also at the MWC.
According to Phone Arena, the LG G5 will share similar features with the Samsung Galaxy S7. First, both devices will ditch plastic and rock an all-metal design for a premium look. Both smartphones are confirmed to have an Always On feature that will only show important messages and notifications without lighting up the whole screen to save battery.
The report said that the LG G5 may also have a native fingerprint scanner just like the LG V10. Both the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the LG G5 are expected to have USB Type-C ports that will allow quick charging. Samsung already confirmed this feature for its latest flagship unlike LG.
Fans may also see microSD card slots on both the LG G5 and the Samsung Galaxy S7. This means that users may be able to expand their phones' memory. Both smartphones are expected to be unveiled at the MWC on February 21.
