Though the 2010's Saw 3D was entitled The Final Chapter, it seems that the studio hasn't closed its doors for future projects involving the horror genre as they're tapping Saw 8. With this, Lionsgate has hired two established names in the violence and horror films to pen the script of the Saw: Legacy.

It was in 2004 when James Wan started his household name today with the film Saw and now, the studio won't be tearing down hopes as they're making the next chapter of the franchise entitled Saw: Legacy. According to Indian Express, Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg have been tapped to write the screenplay for the eight installment. The two are known for writing some of the gory film such as Piranha 3D, Piranha 3DD and the Sorority Row.

Meanwhile, James Wan and Leigh Whannell, who are responsible for the Saw franchise, are also going to return for this new chapter as reported by Cross Map. The two would be included as executive producers for the upcoming film of Lionsgate. James Wan was the director of the first Saw and worked with Whannell in the sequels such as Saw 2 and Saw 3, which was their last. However, they stayed with their franchise working as executive producers also. Not until later that the two worked on another horror film known as the Insidious series.

Slash Film also released their statements regarding the franchise's continuation since there are still no plot being revealed about the film. They've concluded that the film is a move for the Lionsgate to find a young director who would eventually revive the franchise. The article also stated that only one Saw film in the series can be labelled as good but it was well received by audience as it grossed $873 million against a budget of $64 million in total.

It seems that The Final Chapter isn't really the last chapter for Saw series as the Lionsgate is opening its possibility for another film. The studio has hired two writers, Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg to pen the story. Further, original director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell are returning as executive producers for the possible film. Though it is being confirmed, the studio hasn't announced a release date for the film.
