Ever since Samsung Galaxy S7 was confirmed to debut during the MWC 2016, rumors about the upcoming family member of Samsung Note series have also started circulating on the rumor mill. Now, reports claim that the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 could be the last device from the Note lineup.
According to International Business Times, a source who is close to Samsung Electronics has revealed that the South Korean tech company may discontinue its Note series after the launch of the Galaxy Note 6. Although it is not yet confirmed, there is a really high chance that Samsung would take this move, as the Note series are becoming more like the Galaxy S series from specifications to screen size.
As a matter of fact, the Note and S series are almost identical. The difference between last year's Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ are not that much except for the stylus and some upgrades in the former. Both of the devices arrived with a 5.7-inch Super-AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1,440x2,560 pixel (518 ppi pixel density) resolution.
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 6 and the Galaxy S7 edge+ are also anticipated to sport a similar screen size making the S Pen somewhat the only difference. Other than that, there are even possibilities that these handsets will share the same specifications, like last year's Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+.
Christian Post cited other possible features that the Galaxy Note 6 would have. The upcoming member of the Note family is expected to have a powerful processor that can work similar to those of personal computers. Tech enthusiasts could look forward to Galaxy Note 6 having a PC-like gaming minimum of 8GB of RAM. The phablet is also believed to be loaded with a 16-core processor that uses 14nm FinFET technology. This will make the gamers delighted as it will surely make their gaming experience further fun-packed.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is also speculated to have a six-inch screen bolstered by a 4k resolution. As for its camera it might be armed with a 30-megapixel main camera. However, with the reduction of the pixels on the upcoming Galaxy 7 camera, it is most likely that Samsung has realized that pixels have nothing to do with picture quality. Therefore, it is likely for an improved sensor would arrive to the Note 6 camera instead.
Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 may also have an improved S Pen stylus and a higher 256GB of built-in storage. Samsung will reportedly integrate a pressure-sensitive display technology in Galaxy Note 6 that is similar to the 3D Touch in Apple's iPhone 6S. The South Korean smartphone maker has teamed up with Synaptics to use the latter's ClearForce pressure-sensitive display technology to its upcoming devices.
The Galaxy Note 6 could also have a bigger battery. The Note 5 is notably armed with a 3,000 mAh, and an upgrade to 4,000 mAh would be just the improvement its users want. Other enhancement could be an iris scanner and a microSD slot that would let the users expand the memory of the Note 6.
With the Samsung Galaxy S7 launcing on MWC 2016, hints about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will more likely be given during the said event as well. Hopefully, the tech giant will shed some light on the future of the popular Note series soon.
