After the long wait, a teaser has confirmed that Samsung is launching its flagship smartphone for this yeaR known as the Galaxy S7. The long rumored device will be making its first public appearance on February 21 in Barcelona.

According to The Indian Express, Samsung has publicized the latest 'Unpacked' event wherein the South Korean tech company will launch the next Galaxy smartphone. Since this has been the company's tradition, Samsung is holding its unpacked event a day ahead of official start to Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 in Barcelona, Spain.

Samsung Electronics' 'The Next Galaxy' event will occur on February 21 at 19 CET which translates to 11.30 PM IST. The company has also put a teaser video which shows a cube with lighted edges to form No. 7, clearly suggesting that the seventh S-series Galaxy is in line to be revealed.

Additionally, The Week stated that Samsung is expected to launch the Samsung Galaxy S7 in the US on 11th of March, but the release in Europe is still not known. As noted before, the timing of the reveal is highlighting a potential battle between Samsung and Apple, which is also slated to introduce a new entry-level phone this Spring.

Samsung could use this as an advantage to impair its rival by starting 2016 off with strong sales of a new flagship device. Compared to the rumored iPhone 5E, the Galaxy S7 will have far more technical capabilities and it could be a stronger seller. It could do obvious damage to the Apple brand ahead of the iPhone 7 launch.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to keep the design of its predecessors, Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. But this handset may arrive sporting a microSD card slot and USB Type-C port. It was also reported that Samsung will bring Apple's force touch display in the name of pressure-sensitive screen. The company might also launch the edge variant in different screen sizes.

Furthermore, Hindustan Times added that the smartphones are predicted to feature a 5.1-inch and bigger QHD displays. As for its cameras, it will be armed with a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper. With a 64 GB inbuilt storage, the smartphone is believed to arrive engineered with a Snapdragon 820 processor and paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM. However, in some regions it is believed to feature its in-house Exynos 8990 chipsets.

While nothing can be confirmed until the device's launch, fans can only hope that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be worth the wait. Moreover, their release schedules on other markets are still not available at this time.
